Indicator 6.1.1

Saprobity (organic load) and trophicity (nutrient load) of the Müggelsee lake

The indicator shows the saprobity (organic load) and trophicity (nutrient load) of the Müggelsee on the basis of 5 different condition classes.

The condition classes are:
bad = 5
unsatisfactory = 4
moderate = 3
good = 2
very good = 1

Saprobity represents a measure of the pollution of the lake with biodegradable organic matter; it is measured via indicator species of the invertebrate fauna. Trophism describes the nutrient load of the water and can be measured in lakes via phytoplankton. The data are taken from the data report of the “Core Indicators for Sustainable Development in Berlin”.
